Hormone Pellet Therapy

Hormone Pellet Therapy is a way to give bio-identical hormone replacement therapy that specializes in the use of subcutaneous testosterone and estradiol pellets. This small pellet is inserted under the skin. The pellet delivery method allows for the continual release of the hormone, when compared to other methods of dispensing bio-identical hormones, pellet therapy offers a number of benefits and conveniences, Other delivery methods result in sporadic, or a “roller coaster,” effect in the delivery and release of hormones within the body. These methods include pills, patches, injectables, creams, gels and spray.

In menopausal women, a low testosterone level is relatively common. Testosterone works in conjunction with estrogen in maintaining a normal hormone balance.

Pellet therapy is a safe and effective delivery method for compounded doses of specific hormones. This method of hormone replacement therapy has been in practice for well over 80 years and is available for patients who will benefit from treatment with bio-identical estrogen and or testosterone.

Insertion of the pellet is an in-office procedure. There is very little , if any, pain. The physician applies a local anesthetic, and makes a tiny cut in the upper hip area. The actual pellet, which is slightly larger than a grain of rice, is then inserted. There are no stitches, and tape is used to seal the cut.

Once the pellet has been inserted it will begin to slowly metabolize steadily delivering a natural dose of hormone. The hormone is released a little bit at a time and it gives the patient a steady level of hormone over the next three to five months. This may change depending on how quickly your body metabolizes the pellet, which varies from person to person.

Once lab work and personal history is taken into account, a customized pellet therapy treatment plan can offer numerous benefits for a woman, including symptoms related to perimenopause or menopause. Some of these benefits may include:

  • Reduced menopause symptoms
  • Increased sex drive
  • Improved bone density
  • Improved energy levels
  • Improved mental sharpness
  • Improved lean body mass
  • Lower fat mass

In menopausal women, a low testosterone level is relatively common. Testosterone works in conjunction with estrogen in maintaining a normal hormone balance.

If estrogen is prescribed in women with a uterus, progesterone is always added to balance the estrogen effect. Usually this is added as a daily pill, recommended to be taken at night since it may help having a better sleep.

Young women may also have a low testosterone level for no reason at all, or commonly due to long term use of birth control pills and may complain of loss of sex drive and/or vaginal dryness due to a hormone deficiency. If a low testosterone level is found upon testing, a pellet of testosterone is a great way to boost the sex drive up to the desired level.

All of the pellets are made of bio-identical hormones, meaning the molecular structure is the same as our own body’s hormones. We work with a company called Pellecome, an international company founded by a gynecologist, who trains providers in this method of hormone replacement, and works directly with the compounding pharmacy to assure sterility, potency, and quality of the pellet.

Pellecome Pellet Therapy FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Pellecome Pellet Therapy is a super simple form of therapeutic plant-based hormones that are very similar to those produced on a molecular level in the human body. Pellet Therapy is used both with women and men to successfully treat hormone imbalances in the body. Pellet Therapy is a preferred method when compared to creams, ointments, or oral medications, as it has an easier method of delivery, has significant benefits and it is sustainable as it allows for a continuous and consistent release of hormones from the pellets over a period of time.

Pellecome Pellet Therapy is extremely easy to administer, as it is about the size of a rice grain, which makes the procedure super quick and easy. The pellet can be administered about 2-3 times per year and the procedure usually takes less than 15 minutes to be completed.

The main advantage of Pellet Therapy is, patients will not have to worry about constantly applying creams, ointments or taking oral medications daily as once the pellet is administered it does its job until your next appointment.

Every patient is different, and their hormone therapy journey is unique. However, within 10 days after your pellet insertion, it begins to work as a consistent dose of the Pellet Therapy will enter the bloodstream. Most patients using Pellet Therapy have noted significant symptoms relief within 2 to 4 weeks and full optimization up to 6 months after.

The main goal of pellet therapy is to reduce the most common and life changing symptoms associated with aging and menopause which are often overlooked or not traditionally addressed by most healthcare providers. Some of the most common symptoms include things like fatigue and sleep disturbances, weight gain, foggy thoughts, stress, and a loss of sex drive. Pellet Therapy is used to address the cause of these issues simply by optimizing hormone levels and correcting hormone imbalances.

Schedule an appointment with us here at BioConnect Medical Centre, where Dr. Roberta Corona will discuss whether Pellet Therapy is an appropriate option for you. If Pellet Therapy is considered a great option for you, first blood work will be done to determine your current hormone level. Based on your consultation with Dr. Corona and detailed blood work results, would then determine if you are an ideal candidate.

For women interested in Pellet Therapy it is recommended that you have a current Mammogram and Pap Smear.
